Clear links strengthen the park's connection and contribute to increased use of the entire park throughout the year. The project has been developed with a focus on safety and accessibility for all, using lighting design to facilitate use throughout the day and year by creating a sense of security with a simultaneously playful lighting concept. The residents in the neighborhood were involved in the development of the park and participation with children, and the residents in the area helped creating a diverse, and active meeting place with a clear focus on equality and inclusion. The activity park wants to contribute to a vibrant local environment.
The park is situated in a neighboring culturally diverse area in Trondheim and the activity park is intended to be a non-commercial meeting place for people of different backgrounds and experiences and create pride. It facilitates creative activities for children and adults and focuses through its many varieties of rooms and meeting places, on being a good urban space for all ages.
Since its inception, the work on the park has focused on diversity, equality, indigenous qualities, the shape of the landscape, coherent activity and varied use, with the aim of creating an attraction for the area. The activity park will be able to function as a green, lush and central meeting place across the generations.
The project has also included a separate art project to strengthen the parks’ identity. The art project reinforces the identity of the park and an integral part of the design. The sculptures are recognizable, naturalistic figures inserted into a fascinating context. The landscape architect had a close dialogue with the artist and participated in the work of the art of the park.
